Designed with John Daly as the "Player Consultant", Wicked Stick opened in 1995. Although heavily criticized by Bradley Klein, the famous golf writer, Wicked Stick has proved to be one of the most popular golf courses in the Myrtle Beach area.
The course is characterized by Clyde Johnston as a "Scottish-American" style of design, featuring dunes with ornamental grasses and Scottish pot bunkers. The course also has the longest par 3 in the Grand Strand, measuring 265 yards from the back tee.
